When I visited the National Holocaust Memorial in Ottawa it was a bitterly cold day with snow swirling through the structure. And yet despite the brutal architecture and environment there was a sense of hope and perseverance. For each obstacle and dead end that stopped the snow, there were small gaps where individual flakes escaped, where light came through.
